Granada-San Juan del Sur

8 days-7 nights

Managua, the capital – Masaya: its national park and active volcano; its handicraft market - Granada Colonial, its monuments, Lake Nicaragua and the Islands – San Juan del Sur, Pacific Ocean.


Day 1: Airport-Managua

Arrival in Managua, transfer to your hotel Los Robles 3*, conveniently located next to major restaurants. Night in your hotel.

Day 2: Managua – Granada

In the morning, a representative of Nicaragua Adventures will visit you and provide a map of Nicaragua, road-maps, vouchers and important information about your trip.
Then go for a guided city tour in Managua (about 3 hours).

Enjoy a lunch in an excellent typical restaurant, downtown Managua.

After lunch, you will be delivered your car by a representative of the car rental company in your hotel. Drive one hour to reach Granada, the jewel of Nicaraguan cities. Accommodation in your hotel. Granada is the oldest city in the Americas, founded by the Spanish in 1524.
Note: on the way, you can go to the Masaya National Park and see its active volcano.
Night at the hotel.

Days 3 and 4: Granada

Free days in Granada to enjoy the different tours and activities in the area:

-Boat ride to discover Lake Nicaragua and some of its 365 small islands “Isletas”.
-Excursion to Mombacho volcano, natural reserve with a cloud forest, a very nicely designed trail circles around one of the craters (Thursday to Sunday).
-Tour to Masaya markets and the “white towns”, home of famous handicraft manufactured in the country, as well as Catarina, lookout where from you can observe Lake Nicaragua & the Islets, the Mombacho volcano, Granada and Apoyo Lagoon.
-Tour to Masaya National Park and volcano, where you’ll reach the edge of a still active volcano and visit its small but very interesting museum.
(Can be combined with the markets and white towns, in one full day)
-Canopy tour (top tree trail) in the Mombacho volcano.
-Museums and colonial monuments in Granada.
-Visit a small cigar factory.
-Go to Apoyo Lagoon, where a crater lake awaits, with warm, pleasant and safe waters. There is a small private exclusive resort, located in front of the water and including bar and restaurant.

Day 5: Granada-San Juan Del Sur

From Granada you will drive south 100 kilometers to San Juan del Sur, typical fishermen port located at the south west, 15 miles away from the border with Costa Rica.
Free time to enjoy a seafood lunch in front of the water, and go to one of the beautiful beaches surrounding San Juan to enjoy swimming in the Pacific Ocean. Free evening, night in San Juan.

Day 6: San Juan Del Sur

Free day in San Juan, drive around to discover the beaches and enjoy your time in this pleasant village. World-class sport fishing available too! Night in the hotel.

Day 7: San Juan Del Sur-Managua

Leave San Juan, drive to Managua (150 kilometers). Accommodation in your hotel in Managua.

Day 8: Managua-Managua airport

Drive to the airport; drop your car off at the car rental agency. Board your flight back to your country.
Note: for your convenience, you also can return your car the evening of day 7 in your hotel, and our agency will provide transportation to the airport.
