
Managua-Colonial cities- Matagalpa -Apoyo Lagoon -Morgans Rock

Day 1: Managua airport-Hotel in Managua (B)
Arrival in Managua airport, meet and greet by a bilingual representative of Nicaragua Adventure who will also provide you with vouchers, maps and important information about your trip. Transfer to your hotel.
Night in your hotel
Day 2: Managua Matagalpa (B)
Your guide will meet you at your hotel. Transfer to mountainous region Matagalpa and its fresh weather, home of famous coffee plantations. Accommodation in your hotel Selva Negra 2*.
In the afternoon you will visit a chocolate factory located in the area. You will learn more about the way chocolate is made and taste a few pieces!
 
Day 3: Matagalpa (B)
In the morning go for a horse back riding tour (smooth horses) to visit the property with a local farmer, enjoy a beautiful ride among the coffee plantations (1h).
Then go for a Coffee tour, you may see the harvest (November to February) and visit the "Beneficio humedo" (storage and processing place where the coffee is sent after harvested).
Afternoon at leisure, several walking trails are inviting you for hiking (self guided or with a guide)
Night at Selva Negra.
Afternoon at leisure. Youi can take a tour to enjoy this fantastic property and the surrounding areas. Selva Negra offers you a wide variety of hiking trails to experience. From the slow pace of a walk around the lake, where you can watch the ducks go about their daily life, and listen to the hummingbirds as they busily buzz around you to get the nectar of their favorite flowers, you can also visit the coffee plantations which is an excellent opportunity for you to learn all about the most popular morning drink in the world.
Day 4: Matagalpa- Leon (B)
Enjoy the fresh morning at Selva Negra. Then transfer to the east to Leon, on the way visit the village of San Jacinto where you can observe an impressive phenomena in the "Hervideros", these are boiling mud and thermal waters permanently coming from the earth.
Arrive in Leon, accommodation at your hotel located close to the Central Park.
Free evening to visit this colonial and pleasant city, the main churches, the Cathedral (hike the tower to get an amazing view of the city and volcanoes), as well as a magnificent Art Gallery with painting from Europe and Central America, distributed in 2 colonial houses. Free evening and night in Leon, very lively city and former capital of Nicaragua for over 200 years.

Day 5: Cerro Negro Volcano- Granada (B)
Cerro Negro active volcano- a highlight you should not miss!
This morning go for an adventure day to discover one of Nicaragua's monsters: Cerro Negro active volcano. Born in 1850, it is one of the most active volcanoes in Nicaragua. Cerro Negro "Black Mount" is the most recent of a group of four very young cinder cones in the central Maribios. Last big eruption was August 1998!
Hiking to the top takes less than an hour; a trail has been designed in the rocks and volcanic ashes. Temperature can be very hot as there is no vegetation at all, ranges between 30 and 42º Celsius (according to season; once you hike the breeze makes it easier) and the overwhelming view once we reach the active crater will be the reward you had ever imagined, sulfur coming out from many places, crater and also from the shores (many crevasses). From the top, you will also observe the crater of Telica, another active volcano, as well as the Pacific Ocean, 20 miles away. After a walk around the crater we will hike down and drive back to the City of Leon. Continue to Granada.

In the late afternoon, arrive Granada, accommodation in located right in the old colonial district. Night in your hotel.
Day 6: National Park - Masaya Area and Market - Catarina - San Juan de Oriente. (B)
After breakfast (8.30am) we will transfer you to Masaya (just 14kms from Granada). Your tour will start visiting the First National Park created in Nicaragua in 1979, one of Nicaragua's most interesting and beautiful natural phenomena. It comprises an area of 54 km2 with more than 20 km of scenic roads and trails, leading to and around the one impressive volcano and five formidable craters; one of them currently displays gaseous activity and incandescent lava in its interior. You can also visit the Museum that offer interesting history and legends.
Then we will visit the finest Handicraft Market where you can enjoy the creativity and variety of Nicaraguan art at bargain prices.
Later transfer to Catarina lookout which is a small and characteristic village of Nicaragua where people work seedling nurseries, make handcraft and raise horses. Placed on top of a hill at 520 meters over the sea level, present a very agreeable climate, the temperature is between 22 and 27 degrees, from here you can have a magnificent view of the Apoyo lagoon, Mombacho volcano, Granada and Lake Nicaragua., after your lunch will go to San Juan de Oriente, famous for its ceramic arts. You will observe the process, all ceramics are hand made and the know how transmitted from father to son.

Day 7: Canopy Tour Kayak in Lake Nicaragua (B)
Today we will transfer you to the canopy tour located at the shore of Mombacho Volcano. Here you will get ready to climb and swing through trees!! This tour offers you an unforgettable experience sliding down from tree to tree through seventeen platforms and bridges very safely built, overlooking the coffee plantations. It takes around 2 hours to experience this unique activity.
Later we will drive to Lake Nicaragua. You will go for a Boat Ride and discover Lake Nicaragua and some of its 356 islands "isletas"
The "Isletas" were formed thousands years ago, after an eruption of nearby Mombacho volcano (now extinct). They are now covered with lush vegetation, some of them are inhabited by natives, others have vacation houses built on them, and others are still deserted. You will be able to observe some of the many species of tropical birds that live in the islands. The inhabitants (Isleños) live peacefully in simple yet decent conditions and dedicate themselves to fishing and small agriculture. The boat is fully equipped with individual lifevests, and a cooler with sodas.
Transfer to your hotel in Granada.
Day 8: Granada - Apoyo Lagoon (B)
Today you will spend the day at Apoyo Lagoon, Nicaragua's biggest lagoon, its warm and crystal clear waters, which reach a depth of 200 meters, invite you to swim or to enjoy other aquatic pastimes. The luxurious tropical vegetation alongside its beaches makes this lake unique in its style.
Enjoy the different activities available (not included): Kayaking, sailing boat or water bike, or just swimming in the pools or the lake and relaxing in the sundecks.

Day 9: Granada - Morgan's Rock. (B, L, D)
Today we will pick you up at 9.00am; we will take our way south. Transfer to Morgan's Rock 4* located just 15 miles away from the border with Costa Rica.
Accommodation your bungalow and lunch at the resort.This exceptional high-end resort is part of a 1000 hectares reforestation project and an 800 private nature reserve that host a diversity of forest west, 15 miles away from de border with Costa Rica. Animals including three different kinds of monkeys, sloth, white tipped deers and an extensive variety of birds, natives to this tropical region, located in front of the most beautiful beaches of Nicaragua. Don't miss the experience of crossing the 100 meters suspension bridge overlooking the ocean.
Day 10: Morgan's Rock (B, L, D)
Day of leisure on this exceptional property, many land and water tours are offered at the hotel.
Day 11: Morgan's Rock - Managua (B, L)
Breakfast in your hotel and morning in the beach. In the afternoon your driver will pick you up in order to transfer you to Managua. Accommodation at Hotel Camino Real***sup, located 5 min from the airport.
Day 12: Managua - Managua Airport (B)
Transfer by shuttle to the airport to board your flight back to your country. End of our services.
