This package offers a sample of each countries:
Nicaragua: An antique colonial citiy founded almost 500 years ago, its architecture and history; hiking in exciting, active volcanoes; Ometepe island, largest volcanic island in a lake in the world;
Costa Rica: exuberant nature in Arenal and time to relax at the beach in Tamarindo.
Day 1: Managua airport- Managua (B)
Arrival in Managua, transfer by shuttle to your hotel to spend the first night.
Day 2: Managua- Granada- Boat tour in Lake Nicaragua & Isletas- (B)
AM transfer to Granada, the jewel of Nicaraguan cities.
Accommodation in your hotel located in the historical district.
Granada is the oldest colonial city in the Americas, founded by the Spanish in 1524. Touring Granada will transport us back to the colonial times, with its classical and neo-classical buildings, its horse-drawn carriages !
In the morning you will take an excursion to Mombacho volcano, natural reserve with a cloud forest, a very nicely designed trail circles around one of the craters.
Then you will go for a Boat Ride and discover Lake Nicaragua and some of its 356 islands “isletas”, a must see. The islands “Isletas” were formed thousands years ago, after an eruption of nearby Mombacho volcano (now extinct). They are now covered with lush, tropical vegetation, some of them are inhabited by natives, others have vacation houses built on them, and others are still deserted. You will be able to observe some of the many species of tropical birds that live in the islands. The inhabitants (“Isleños”) live peacefully in simple yet decent conditions and dedicate themselves to fishing and small agriculture, and now to tourism too.
Then go back to Granada and free evening and night at your hotel.

Day 3: Granada (B)
Day at leisure, there are several optional tours and activities you can take (not included):
*Canopy Tour: Get ready to climb and swing through trees!! This tour offers you an unforgettable experience sliding down from tree to tree through seventeen platforms and bridges very safely built, overlooking the coffee plantations. It takes around 2 hours to experience this unique activity.
*Masaya area: in the morning visit the Masaya active volcano and national park. Hike the San Fernando crater, a trail goes all the way around the crater (extinct). Impressive views to the valley and Masaya lagoon. Visit the small museum dedicated to volcanoes history in Nicaragua. After this we’ll visit the Handicraft Market in Masaya City, here you will find the most delicate works. Possible lunch at Mirador de Catarina, overlooking 2 lakes, Granada, the islands and Mombacho.
In the afternoon, visit the “white towns”, typical villages producing all kind of handicrafts. Visit to a local Ceramic Handcraft Workshop to watch the process (Mon-Fri).
*City tour with all museums and colonial monuments in Granada.
*Visit a small cigar factory.
*Go to Apoyo Lagoon, where a crater lake awaits, with warm, pleasant and safe waters. There is a small private exclusive resort, located in front of the water and including bar and restaurant.

Day 4: Granada-Ometepe Island (B)
Transfer to Ometepe Island by shuttle, take the ferry to the world’s largest volcanic island in a lake. Accommodation in your hotel situated on the waterfront. You can discover the island or just relax at the beach. Optional tours available, like hiking in the rain forest, hike an active volcano (with several levels of difficulty), tour of the island, see the petroglyphs and more.
Overnight in your hotel.
 
Day 5: Ometepe-Costa Rica/Arenal volcano (B)
After breakfast, leave the hotel and the island. Take our shuttle to the border between Nicaragua and Costa Rica (Peñas Blancas) to Liberia. From there transfer to la Fortuna in Arenal.

Day 6: Arenal (B)
Enjoy the many activities that are offer in this wonderful area.

Day 7: Arenal- Tamarindo Beach (B)
Private or shuttle transfer to Playa Tamarindo, one of the nicest white sand beaches in the area. Accommodation at hotel Jardin del Eden 3* located on a hill 2 minutes walking distance from the beach. Time to relax on the beach!!
Both nature and beach lovers will find plenty here to fill their days. Tamarindo is famous for its stunning beaches, its marine national park and wildlife refuge. This area encompasses beaches that attract one of the largest leatherback turtle populations in the world. Peak nesting seasons in the area are October through January. Due to its constant waves, it is also one of the favorite places for surfers and ideal to dive.

Day 8: Arenal- Tamarindo Beach (B)
Free day in Tamarindo, several activities are possible in the area:
Swimming in the Pacific
Surfing (Tamarindo and Playa Grande)
Observe the leather back turtles
Sport fishing
ATV’s and Jet ski tours
Boat tours
Diving
And much more!

Day 9: Tamarindo – Transfer out (B)
Transfer to Liberia international airport (LIR) for your flight back to your country. End of services.
Note: you can also continue to Monteverde, Manuel Antonio, Tortuguero or other locations in Costa Rica… Pura Vida!
