Hike to Maderas waterfall in Maderas Volcano

Category: moderate/strenuous

In the early morning, transfer to the base of Maderas volcano, one of Ometepe 2 volcanoes. From the hotel you will drive one hour, and then you will start to hike Maderas. It will take you around 2 hours to reach the San Ramon waterfall. See wildlife on the trail; birds and monkeys. Also visit Finca el Porvenir and petroglyphs.

Note: you can also hike all the way up to the lagoon and crater's edge(4 to 5 hours up- avoid in wet weather as the trail can get quite muddy)

Hike the Concepcion Volcano

Category: strenuous

You will start very early today, transfer to the base of Concepcion volcano, the highest peak of the island and of South Nicaragua. A rough trail (first treed, then without vegetation) takes about 6 hours to get to the top of the active volcano. From the top the view to Lake Nicaragua and the rest of the island is just stunning.

Note: according to the winds and activity, it may not be possible to hike all the way to the crater's edge.
